"Right in the middle of her life, on an ordinary day, the unthinkable happened. Everything went from ordinary to chaotic, and there I stood in the mess of it all, knowing there would now forever be a before and an after. THAT day." – Sharyn Marsh
Bethany Early Childhood Center Administrative Assistant, Mrs. Shannon Schwenke, holds these words close, often reflecting on how they resonate with her journey.
Earlier this year, the Bethany community rallied around Mrs. Schwenke as she faced a battle with breast cancer. Following her diagnosis, she endured challenging medical appointments and procedures. Her ECC team became her backbone—co-workers turned family, arranged flexible schedules, provided meal support, and attended to her every need, large and small. Friends offered guidance, helping her navigate medical decisions with compassion.
During her six-week fasting regimen before surgery, friends joined her in fasting as a show of solidarity. “I was floored to find out how many people fasted with me,” she recalls. Parents brought care packages, visited her home, and encouraged their children to write letters to Mrs. Schwenke. In her hardest moments, these letters from her young “pen pals” brought her comfort and a sense of connection. The kindness extended to her entire family; her husband and daughters (also Bethan y staff) found friendship and support from these parents, strengthening the community bond even further.
For Mrs. Schwenke, healing required both medical and community care. Her medical team emphasized the importance of a strong support system, and the ECC community went above and beyond. Now back at work, she reflects on the team-led fundraiser that surprised her with a new desk and office upgrades—a reminder of the love that sustained her through the most challenging times.
Mrs. Schwenke’s story highlights the power of a supportive network, showing how the collective strength of Bethany ECC’s teachers, families, and students became essential to her recovery. It’s a reminder of the difference we can make when we show up for each other in hard times, offering strength, comfort, and compassion to those who have experienced "THAT day."
Mrs. Schwenke encourages all that qualify to take charge of their health and get their yearly mammogram!

Bethany Staff Cookout 2024!

PLEASE READ
From Mrs. Tackett:
Hello Parents of 2024-2025 school year Athletes and Marching Band Members,
Your student's current physical expires at the end of this month. To be able to participate in summer activities such as Broncho Iron, Red Dirt, summer leagues, summer camps, and workouts they will need a physical date after May 1st, 2024 uploaded to Final Forms. Before uploading any documents please make sure all necessary signatures are completed.
If they participated in the physicals we did at school on May 9th we encouraged everyone to take photos of their physicals. If you have those photos you can upload them to Final Forms. We will be able to clear those quickly. If you did not take photos we can upload the documents. It will just reduce the turnaround time for clearance if we do not have to scan in every document. You will need to upload all pages in the document found here except the instruction page. https://ossaaillustrated.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/MF_2023-24_PhysicalForm.pdf
On June 1st you will need to go in and activate Final Forms for the upcoming school year. There will be several forms to update and sign. You will see a list of forms and they will be red. As you sign them they will turn green or yellow. When all forms are green or yellow the parent part is complete. Your student will then need to login to their account and electronically sign 5 forms. Those forms will turn from red to green as they are signed. As they are signed your yellow forms will turn green. Once all forms are green for both parents and students and a complete, signed physical has been cleared your student is cleared until May 31st, 2025.
If you have an incoming 7th grader, a student new to the district, or a student competing in athletics and marching band for the first time you will need to create a Final Forms account. On June 1st go to this link and follow the instructions. https://www.bethanybronchos.com/vnews/display.v/SEC/Forms%7CAthletic%20Forms
If you have any questions please email me. LTackett@bethanyschools.com
Looking forward to a great year!

Jackson Dull (Muscogee Creek and Cherokee), a Junior, was accepted into the Voices of Oklahoma Internship at the University of Oklahoma in conjunction with their archeology department! Students will have the opportunity to earn college credits while learning about the discipline of archeology as a tool that can produce knowledge that compliments other ways that communities understand their heritage. This summer the program focuses on Native American boarding schools. Based on Jackson’s academic achievements, recommendation letters from teachers, questionnaire, and interview, he was accepted into the program in February 2024. The internship will last from June 2024 through August 2024. Jackson will then present and share his experience with the Bethany High School Native American Heritage club. Jackson will also be attending Boys State this summer with fellow classmates who were also nominated. Jackson has maintained a 4.5 GPA this year along with being part of the Bethany High School football team and track and field team! We are so proud of you, Jackson!
