It's National School Counselor Week! 💜

This week, we have been celebrating the incredible counselors who serve on the emotional front line for every student who walks through our doors.
Our counselors have a special gift for recognizing when a student needs support, whether it's picking up on a facial expression in the hallway, helping navigate anxiety and friendships, managing college prep, or simply brightening someone's day with a kind word in the lunchroom.
From ensuring students are on track with schedules and graduation requirements to being there for the moments that matter most, our counselors balance countless roles with grace, compassion, and dedication.
We are so fortunate to have such a caring, dedicated team who makes a difference in our students' lives every single day. Thank you for everything you do!

We’re so proud of Miss McCann!
Out of more than 700 Oklahoma teachers, she was one of just ten chosen by Oklahoma State University to be recognized at the OSU vs. Baylor football game through their Teach Orange program!

Miss McCann shared what she loves most about teaching:
“I’m in a subject that teaches kids to find what’s beautiful. I love it when they start to see those lightbulbs turn on.”

Her kindness, creativity, and heart for students make us all proud to have her at Bethany.

Bethany Public Schools Community,

We are saddened to announce the passing of Heather Miller, a former member of the Bethany Board of Education. Heather has been a proud member of our Bethany community since 2005 and has passionately served our students, parents, and staff throughout those years. She served on the Bethany School Board for 12 years. During her tenure, Bethany saw the creation of new programs, numerous facility improvements such as the PAC, STEM, Learning Center, and storm shelter, and a growth in student achievement demonstrated by two Blue Ribbon Awards. She will be remembered for her service, commitment, and love for Bethany Public Schools.

We recently raised money for Heather and her family during SWAT week by having a "Hats for Heather" fundraiser. In honor of her, we will have a free district-wide hat day this Friday, May 2nd, to remember her and show our united appreciation for her service to this community. We hope all staff and students will consider wearing a hat on Friday.

Finally, we extend our condolences to Heather's family and friends, and we ask for everyone's help in supporting them during this difficult time. The funeral service will occur on May 6th at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene at 2:00 PM for those who are able to attend.

With deepest sympathy,

Dr. Reuben Bellows, Ed.D
