Six people stand together smiling inside Bethany High School in front of a wooden trophy display case filled with plaques, medals, and academic and activity awards. Bethany High School senior Luke Gillespie stands in the center wearing glasses, a blue Bethany shirt, and a school lanyard with ID, surrounded by school staff and administrators on both sides. A large white horse statue, representing the Bethany Bronchos, is visible behind the group on the right. The group is posed for a recognition photo celebrating Luke being named a National Merit Finalist.

Bethany Public Schools is proud to announce that Bethany High School senior Luke Gillespie has been named a Finalist in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program, one of the most prestigious academic honors for high school students in the United States!

Luke is the fifth National Merit Finalist in Bethany High School history, placing him among a small group of Bethany students to earn this level of national recognition.

National Merit Finalists are selected through a highly competitive process that includes outstanding academic performance, strong PSAT/NMSQT scores, and a detailed application submitted with school endorsement and supporting achievements.

As a Finalist, Luke will be considered for National Merit Scholarship awards that will be announced later this spring and summer. This honor can open doors to additional scholarship opportunities and continued academic recognition.

Bethany Public Schools congratulates Luke on this incredible achievement and celebrates the hard work and dedication it represents!
