Although SWAT Week (Students Who Achieve Together) doesn't happen until spring, we are kicking off the fundraising early! Please take note of optional hat & pajama days coming up!

We are counting down the days until our 2nd annual Flix with Friends Night! Thank you for being flexible as we changed the date to THIS Thursday to accommodate last week's bad weather. Reminder, advance tickets will be sold today and tomorrow in Elevate for $15. Tickets purchased Thursday will be at the door for $20. Can't wait to see you all there!
Wow! We want to say congratulations to our 7th grade Broncho football team on their win over Chickasha last night, which was the final game of their UNDEFEATED 2025 season! Not since 2016 has a middle school team gone undefeated for the year, so this is quite an accomplishement for the players, managers, coaches, and even the parents (hey, we know how many hours you logged driving to games, working the concessions, running chains, packing snacks, and sitting in the bleachers! --- thank you for your support!) Great job, boys, we are proud of you!

The annual BMS Food Pantry Drive will kick off in just a few weeks and run Nov 10-14. Please see the attached list for requested donations. These pantry items are used to help BPS families and students ..... thank you for your help!

Football season is coming to a close ... if you haven't been to a game yet, tomorrow evening is your FINAL opportunity! Come out and cheer for the Broncho football teams, and enjoy the pom and cheerleading squads, as they host the Chickasha Fighting Chicks at home. Seventh grade is looking to wrap up an UNDEFEATED season and eighth grade has also had a very successful year; it should be a great night of football, don't miss it! Also, we are less than two weeks out from our first games of the girls and boys basketball season. Make plans now and don't miss opening night!

Don't forget tomorrow is the start of Red Ribbon Week here at Bethany MS. We hope your students enjoy the option of dressing up on theme days as a fun way to show their commitment to a drug-free lifestyle!

Math in Action students and Honors Algebra I students collaborated on a project for Mrs. Wetwiska, who teaches both classes. Her Math in Action students created a “hard logic” puzzle with a 3-D printer, then Algebra students spent the week trying to solve it. Hard logic puzzles challenge you to eliminate possibilities through a process of deduction to arrive at a single, unique solution. Although it took several days, eighth grade students Brooklyn G, Quinn M, and Koley C were the first group in their class to solve the puzzle.

This week’s Teacher Feature is 8th grade Science teacher, Mrs. Malynda McClellan. Mrs. McClellan just began her 2nd year at Bethany, but has spent 18 years in education, overall. She attended Oklahoma Baptist for her Bachelors Degree, and received her Masters Degree from the University of Phoenix.
Mrs. McClellan enjoys:
📽️Movie: Lord of the Rings Trilogy
🙂Snack: kettle-cooked potato chips
🍽️Restaurant: Birrieria Diaz
📺TV show: The Office, Survivor
🥇Sports team: I enjoy sports in general, but prefer to watch Bethany Bronchos sports 🐴more than any college or professional team just because I actually know the people playing!
🥤Drink: Sparkling Ice, Coke Zero
🎧Band or music: Christian Worship, 80’s & 90’s pop, rock, & country
📘Book: No one specific favorite book, but I enjoy reading biographies
😁Vacation place: Anywhere where the temperature stays below 80 degrees
📿Hobbies: making hand-beaded jewelry, singing, spending time with my family
🎭Dream career if not a teacher: Musical Theater Director
A fun fact about Mrs. McClellan is that she spent her final summer of college in China! And, she speaks pretty passable Spanish, as well!
“I grew up in a family of teachers and vowed to not be one. My first job out of college was with a social service agency teaching tobacco prevention education in middle schools. It was there I realized that teaching was not only what I was made to do and what I love to do! I went back to school to get a masters degree and became a public school teacher. Since then, I have taught 7 different grade levels and ESL, and I have LOVED them all!”
Please say hello to Science teacher Malynda McClellan! We are so happy to have her as part of our 8th grade team!

This week’s Teacher Feature is over BPS Family and Consumer Science (Tween Life) teacher, Mrs. Amy Harrell. Mrs. Harrell has spent 12 of her 16 years in education right here at Bethany, where she herself is a graduate! Her degree in Music Education came from The University of Oklahoma.
Mrs. Harrell’s favorites:
🍿Movie- Steel Magnolias
😋Snack-Trail Mix and Charcuterie
🍕Restaurant-Johnnie’s and Hall’s Pizza
📺TV show - Law and Order
❤️🧡💙Sports team - The Sooners & OKC Thunder
🥤Drink - Route 44 strawberry/vanilla Diet Coke, Sugar free vanilla latte
🎼Band or music - old Amy Grant, Hillsong, Benson Boone, Coldplay
📖Book - Anything by Colleen Hoover, and I love reading Christian based devotionals
🚣Vacation place - Tulsa, OK or Lake Eufala!
🎹Hobbies- song writing, playing piano, writing letters to friends and family
⚖️Dream career if not a teacher - attorney
❤️Family: I have three children, (Hannah-27, Payton-26, Woods-20) and one sweet daughter in law (Grace) and one precious granddaughter, Collins! 👶 I’ve been married to my husband, Topher, for 30 years, but we actually started dating 8 years before that in 1988. (He was NOT a Broncho.🐴 He was a Panther. 🐯)
A fun fact about Mrs. Harrell: She recorded an album in 2002 and it made it into the top 20 on a Christian radio station in Chicago and Tennessee for about a week!!
“I started my career at OU as a pre-law major, but I realized after three years that my passion was really music and I wanted a career that catered to being a mom and having a family. I grew up immersed in voice and piano lessons. My mom taught at Bethany for many years, and I knew how beneficial that was in raising a family. So, I decided to combine my love for music with education, and voila! I became a music teacher and later became a FACS teacher (I love both fields!) Middle School Tween Life is the biggest blessing to me. My students are a blast, they love to laugh, play, have fun and engage enthusiastically in learning. Most of all, they are really good at making their teachers feel loved.”
We are so happy to have Mrs. Harrell as our Tween life teacher this year, be sure to say hello!

And speaking of our amazing fine arts programs, we want to take a minute to recognize the eighth grade students who are taking part in high school marching band this year, and wish them the best of luck in today's OBA marching band contest in Edmond! Thank you, also, for the entertainment at football games, both in the stands, and with your half-time show. Band is directed by Mr. Steve Sharp and Mr. Noah Billingsley. Good luck today! We know everyone is excited -- Fall Break is right around the corner!

Just a quick note to clarify today’s schedule. If your Middle School or Elementary student is planning to attend the softball game at Blanchard or the volleyball game at Bethany today during school hours, they must be checked out and accompanied by an adult at the game. Students will not be admitted into the game if they are not with an adult. Thank you for your understanding.
BPS is partnering with Total Wellness to offer a flu shot clinic next week during the elementary parent-teacher nights. All interested staff, students, and families can get details here. Thank you.
