Bethany Middle School

This week's Teacher Feature is on Annie Mann, the Orchestra Director for the entire Bethany Public School district, and who also teachers Music Theater for middle school. Mrs. Mann attended Oklahoma City University, where she got a degree in vocal performance and music education, then went to the University of Oklahoma where she received her masters in music education.

A fun fact about Mrs. Mann: Her voice teacher in college also taught Kristin Chenoweth, the original Glinda in Wicked!

Mrs. Mann says, "Teaching kids is the most fun and rewarding thing you can do! I love sharing the joy of music with students. It's so fun to watch them make progress all year!"

Exciting news from Athletic Director Chad Marchino, as we move closer to completion of our new track surface! Please note the area is now OFF LIMITS, every place inside the fence around the track and the field, until further notice. This will allow for work completion; thank you!

BMS School Picture Day is next Wednesday, Aug 27th. Photos will be taken of all middle school students and staff for updating Infinite Campus, and for yearbook. Photo purchase is optional, and order forms were given to your child's Elevate teacher on Monday. Extra order forms are available in the office. Smile, Bronchos!

Mrs. Escoe has been at the middle school for twelve years and thinks that the middle school aged kids are the best in the whole district. "I actually wanted to be a teacher when I was young, and although that didn't happen, I love that I get to spend time here every day and help the kids in whatever way I can."

Fun fact: Mrs. Escoe was a military wife for over 20 years and lived all over the country with her husband in the Air Force .... Ohio was her favorite!

Congratulations to our 8th grade Lady Broncho volleyball team on their exciting come-from-behind win over Newcastle this evening in the first match of the season. Special shout out to Ava G, for completing the 13 serves in a row (10 aces!) to clinch the win .... great job! The 7th grade team dropped two close sets to Newcastle, but showed lots of potential and talent on the court .... this is going to be a great year of volleyball for the Bronchos!

Our 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams met bright and early the first day of school and marked the occasion with a photo. We are excited to see great things from this team (and others!) this school year!

Congratulations to Eli, 7th grade, on being our first purple ticket award winner of the school year! Purple tickets are our positive behavior incentives that students receive for modeling the 4-P's .... Productive, Prepared, Prompt, and Polite. We appreciate Eli for being a great example of how to start the year off right!

Parents, if you are planning to attend Friday Night Lights tomorrow, please make note of the location adjustment, especially for the middle school practice happening first. We hope to see you there! (Football parents, please remember that team and individual photos are taking place before the practice at the middle school field.)

Our nutrition department is READY for our students this year!! We are so grateful to them for the wonderful job they do, providing and serving our students every day, all year, at breakfast and lunch!!

Big day tomorrow for Bronchos -- not only the first day of school, but also the FIRST VOLLEYBALL GAME OF THE SEASON! Much thanks to Faith Church for not only providing breakfast to our entire district today, but also for the Blessing Basket they donated to middle school staff and faculty! Our teachers are ready for the first day tomorrow, and appreciate the community support that helps them feel prepared (and fed)! Thank you!

FACELIFT ALERT! We are so excited to greet our middle school students tomorrow, and want to show off our "new look" in the middle school commons and office. Thanks to the hard work of our PTO parents (special shout out to Ashley Edwards, PTO President) and maintenance staff (special shout out to cabinet-maker extraordinaire Mike Branscum) for our new cabinets, office countertops, popcorn counter, and FAB decorations in the commons ..... welcome back, Bronchos!!

A big congratulations to our middle school softball team, on sweeping their first evening of softball games ....beating Kingfisher last night 8-5 in varsity, and 7-6 in JV. Great job, Lady Bronchos, way to start the year off right!
