Mrs. Jackie Melton and Mr. Chad Pugh, High School Counselors

A message from Mr. Pugh:

As the 9/10 counselor my job is to help ensure your child is prepared and transitions well throughout their high school experience. These first years are crucial for setting up the foundation of their academic and personal success. We will work together as they explore interests, develop career paths, and learn about graduation requirements. Approaching these topics early on can have a major impact on achieving their future aspirations. These important life decisions come quicker than the students often expect, but with proper planning and support the student can feel encouraged and confident in their decision making.

It is also one of my goals to make sure your high school child is developing the attributes necessary to flourish socially and emotionally. We may discuss topics like stress management, resolving conflicts, and building positive relationships. Through meaningful conversations and practical application, my hope is to give every student the tools they need to be well adjusted and feel supported.

I know that raising a teenager can present new challenges on the parent side as well. I'm always available to discuss your child's development and any concerns you have about them. I also have outside resources that your family can connect with if additional services are needed. Thank you for choosing Bethany and allowing me to be a part of your child's journey.

Chad Pugh, Bethany High School Counselor (9-10)

A message from Mrs. Melton:

As the 11/12 counselor, I’m excited to work with all of you! My goal is to ensure that students are not only prepared academically but also develop important life skills. During this transitional time, I am here to support every student academically, socially, and emotionally. We will also discuss career interests, set goals and make plans for post-secondary opportunities.

I will work closely with students to ensure they meet all graduation requirements. Most importantly, I’m here to help each student prepare for the next step in their journey—whether that’s college/university, the military, a career or technical center, an apprenticeship, or entering the workforce.

I have an open door policy and love to meet with students and parents.  I know for many of you this is a new phase of life in your students becoming adults (which can be scary).  Together, we can help every student achieve success and feel confident about their future. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am here to help in any way I can.
