Bethany Elementary News and Updates

Back to School News (July 31, 2020)

Pre-K to 1st Grade Families,

Monday, August 3rd - Class lists will be posted on the South doors, Main doors, and Exit Office doors.  We considered sending this through email, however, we did not want to put a digital footprint with student names listed.  Therefore, there will be three doors with the lists so that social distancing will be easy to follow.  Pre-K and Kindergarten lists will be posted on multiple windows at the Early Childhood Center (ECC.)

Tuesday, August 11th - This year "Meet Your Teacher" and "Back to School Night" will be sent digitally. You will receive an email with the information regarding your specific grade level and classroom by August 11th. 

Tuesday, August 11th - Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade students will be allowed to drive through and drop off school supplies since we are not able to allow parents in the building on the first day of school.  Pre-K and Kindergarten are required to carry a purple "Broncho Bag."  No backpacks are allowed for our ECC students.  These required bags will be available for purchase at supply drop off.  The cost of the bag is $10.00.   We can take either cash or check. Please bring exact change, if possible. 

  • Pre-K/Kindergarten - ECC drive-thru - 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM
  • 1st Grade - Elementary drive-thru - 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Thursday, August 13th - This is the first day of school for all grades- Second through fifth-grade students can bring all school supplies on the first day of school.  We will have greeters available at the car rider line to help students carry items if needed.  If it would be easier for your student to bring the copy paper, tissues, or other bulky items the following day, that will be fine.

Tuesday, August 18th - This is the first day of Distance Learning. More detailed information will be coming soon. 

Back to School News (August 10th, 2020)

2nd to 5th Grade Families,

We appreciate the gift of extra time to better prepare for all the adjustments needed for this year.  One of the things this time will allow us to do is now have a simulated “First Day Drop Off” and “Meet Your Teacher” event in the 2nd through 5th grades.  We hope to accomplish several things on this day. 

  1. Allow students to go through the car line and practice getting out at the purple curb and entering in the correct door.
  2. Show students how they will take their temperature on the wall-mounted thermometer as they enter.
  3. Guide students to their class, so they know where to go on the first day of school.
  4. Most importantly, let them meet their teacher while they drop off some of their supplies in the classroom. 

During their scheduled time, we will have parents go through the car line and drop their child off.  Parents will then drive around to the MS side and wait to pick up their child after they have dropped off their supplies and met their teacher.  This will be a brief five to ten-minute process, but it should help them feel better about coming on the first day of school.  We will have teachers and staff guiding them every step of the way to their class to put them at ease.  We will also direct parents on where to pick their child back up on the MS side.  This will occur on Tuesday, August 18th during the day.  If your child is not able to attend, we will also be prepared to help them on the first day of school.  See the schedule below.

August 18th

  • 2nd Grade:        9:00-10:00 am
  • 3rd Grade:        10:00-11:00 am
  • 4th Grade:        12:00-1:00 pm
  • 5th Grade:        1:00-2:00 pm

If you have children in multiple grades, we ask that you come during each of the assigned times since we will be specifically set up for one grade at a time.  We are so grateful for the additional time our School Board provided to make things like this possible. 

Mr. Bellows and all the Elementary Broncho staff send a warm welcome to all students! This presentation contains important changes and modifications to the Elementary Handbook as well as COVID-19 related procedures and re-entry plans.

During a special school board meeting on Thursday, August 6th, the Bethany Public Schools Board of Education voted to change the start date of School to Thursday, August 20th as well as start school with an A/B Schedule in both the Middle and High Schools.
